Battery Overheating?

Do 3Gs batteries heat faster than they should? My own phone never overheated; but I guess that was because I used it only for making and receiving calls. But what if I make the maximum use of it? Would it overheat? Do other 3Gs users face this problem of battery overheating? Or it is just another Apple iPhone rumor? Poor Taste?

I've heard of some people having this issue, personally my 3GS has been working just fine. I use it a lot too, I even use it while it's charging and it's never felt as hot as other people have been describing. It could be that some are defective and I would assume that if this is the case Apple would issue some sort of recall.

It gets really hot to the touch but not too bad. Anyone get burned or something?

Mine has gotten pretty warm too, and I felt it through a case. it was only when I used it EXTENSIVELY trying to drain the battery (took me about 2.5 horus of constant playing with Google Earth, maps, 3G web surfing, picutre taking) to get the phone to go from about 80% to 5%

Mine hasn't by my husband's did. He's on his phone 24/7 so I think ti's just excessive use because it's happened before to him too.
