That wouldn't be impossible. The 3G has an ARM 11 while the 3G S has a Cortex ARM 8.

That would mean a faster iphone next year! I wonder if I should just skip 3G S and wait for the next iPhone!

I think that if I keep waiting to see what else comes out, I'll never buy a new phone and continue to carry around my suitcase-huge-dies-in-two-seconds-size-of-my-head phone and never upgrade for fear of there being a better one coming soon!
