It seems that AT&T is not the only one having a backlash with the new 3G S. O2, the 3G S's distributor in the UK is getting quite a lot of hate mails from its current subscribers over the company's pricing!
I think O2 will be selling the 3G to prepaid customers at a hefty price, with the 16GB version selling for more than $700, while the 32 GB version selling at $853! But the prepaid customers will not be able to use the iPhone's tethering feature because it's not available to pay as you go customers, only contract customers.
O2 is really charging it's subscribers pretty steeply for the new 3G S. Tethering for the contact customers will cost £14.68 per month. This will be for a 3GB maximum data transfer allowance. If you want more, you can opt to pay £29.36 per month for 10GB.
The best deal for O2 is to get the £73.41 per month contract to get the 16GB version free. But that includes an 18-month contract. You can also get the 32GB for the same monthly contact but you're locked in for 24 months.
Us Brit's -always-, and I mean -always- get shafted when it comes to technology, often paying double or even triple what you pay in the US. If they think that a reasonable man will pony up that amount of money, they have another thing coming.
We'll that's really the problem of having a monopolized market, If you can have them, join them. You have no choice but to buy them. Just as I said before you can buy them after the bandwagon cools down. Patience is a virtue.
