call log: delete individual calls from history

I did this for years on simple phones bf my iPhone 3Gs. Why can't Apple provide this simple capability? I want to have the history that is important to me, on the phone, and delete the calls that are not important. Yes, I back it up on my computer, but I don't carry my (larger) computer in my pocket. Poor Taste?
