Prevent sending email from the wrong address

Whenever I send out email from my iPhone it appears to go out from the correct sender/address. Recipients, however, get the messages from an email address from an account that was deleted from the phone sveral months ago. How can I get rid of any leftover traces of that old account? Poor Taste?

Go into settings; then mail. You should see the active accounts. Click on an account and scroll to the bottom; red button to delete. Also if you have multiple accounts (when sending a mail out you can), you can click into cc, bcc and then click from: .scroll through and choose. Last but not least. I can confirm on on the ios firmwares, if you go into setting, mail, scroll down for default account, and under signature"sent from my iphone". hope this helps.
